Eduardo Srur takes the "Plastic Nature" project
to Paraisópolis, with a special tribute to J. Borges

The exhibition takes place at CEU and includes lectures, art workshops and
environmental awareness, with the participation of 800 students from the institution.

From September 21 to October 4, CEU Paraisópolis is hosting a group exhibition of the "Plastic Nature" project by artist Eduardo Srur. Created during the pandemic, the project aims to bring environmental education and awareness to schools on the outskirts of São Paulo through art. During the creative workshops, students study iconic works by world-renowned artists such as Tarsila do Amaral, Volpi, Aldemir Martins, Leonardo da Vinci, among others, recreating them using discarded plastic waste.

The artist, cordelist and poet from Pernambuco, J. Borges, known for his woodcuts depicting everyday life, the simple life of the countryside, the cangaço, popular festivals, in an irreverent and original way - and who died in July of this year - is this time's tribute. The students were invited to recreate some of his works. The works will be exhibited alongside some of Srur's own works during the XIX Mostra Cultural de Paraisópolis, whose mission is to showcase the community culturally, highlighting its potential and valuing the pedagogical and cultural practices of schools, socio-educational organizations and local artists.
