Released in 2012, by BEĨ Editora, the book Manual de Intervenção Urbana, by visual artist Eduardo Srur, is now accessible in e-book format for all interested parties. The digital and free version is for a limited time so that the public can have access to read and research online.
The book had its edition sold out in 2014. The work tells the story of over 16 years of the artist's career and contextualises each of his interventions, showing how they were made and what impact they had on the city.
"My interest in the project arose because the physical book sold out and many people asked me to read it. In a way, it is like my interventions: everyone will be able to see and have access to it. The book offers ordinary citizens the possibility to take a new look at the urban landscape that surrounds them" explains Eduardo Srur.
In this e-book, the internauts will be able to read about the conception and unfolding of works such as PETS, from 2008, which consisted in the installation of 20 giant PET bottles on the banks of Tietê river; Survival, also launched in 2008, in which the artist spread life jackets in sixteen monuments in São Paulo to "visually reactivate elements of history, architecture and social coexistence of the city", in Srur's words; Touro Bandido, an unauthorized intervention in the Cow Parade cows and A Arte Salva, from 2011, in which 360 buoys were thrown in the water mirror of the National Congress, in Brasília, among other unforgettable actions already performed by Srur.
