The "Plastic Nature" project served 2,400 students and teachers
at CEU Campo Limpo, Butantã and Paraisópolis

Throughout 2024, three Unified Educational Centers (CEUs) in the municipality of São Paulo received the group exhibition of the "Plastic Nature" project by artist Eduardo Srur. Created during the pandemic, the project aims to bring environmental education and awareness to schools on the outskirts of São Paulo through art. During the creative workshops, the students studied iconic works by world-renowned artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Van Gogh and Andy Warhol. They also studied Brazilian artists such as Tarsila do Amaral, Volpi, Aldemir Martins, J. Borges, among others, recreating them using discarded plastic waste.

The works were exhibited alongside some of Srur's own works, in the institutions' cultural spaces with the mission of showing the works to their community, highlighting their potential and valuing the schools' pedagogical and artistic practices.

"Art and sustainability should be taught at school as fundamental subjects for the formation of human beings."

- Eduardo Srur
